Dr. Juan Oms, MD, Psychiatrist
Dr. Juan Oms is our Medical Director of Psychiatry here at Ketamine Health Centers. Dr Oms received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, and completed his training in Psychiatry at Jackson Memorial Hospital in affiliation with University of Miami and the VA Hospital. Dr. Oms is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Currently he is the Associate Medical Director BH at Beacon Health Options and is a driving force at the forefront of healthcare improvement and change for the psychiatric community at large training future psychiatrist as the previous Residency Program Director of Psychiatry at Larkin Community Hospital.
Lastly Dr. Oms is an Assistant Professor Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in affiliation with Citrus Community Health Network FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, where he continues to educate and mentor residents of Psychiatry while rotating in outpatient detox clinic and MAT program at Citrus Health Network.
Dr. Oms is passionate in treating patients from a wellness perspective and has emphasized his practice and treatment in an integrative and functional model.
Javier Lopez, MD, Medical Director
Dr. Lopez is a board certified anesthesiologist from Yale University School of Medicine with over ten years’ experience. He has specialty certifications in cardiac and regional nerve block anesthesia as well as extensive experience in the practices of pediatric and maternity anesthesia. He has thorough training in pain medicine during his residency including pediatric sickle cell management and adult chronic pain conditions focusing on opiod alternative therapies and opioid-induced hyperalgesia. He has published on such topics as cocaine abuse and dependance, ovarian cancer, and has spoken at the annual Florida Society of Anesthesiologist meeting. Dr. Lopez also serves as an expert witness on medical malpractice and medicolegal cases. In addition, he most recently has been elected as District 5 director for the FSA and is an oral board examiner for the ABA.
He resides in Miami, Florida with his lovely wife and family of two children. Dr. Lopez is the co-manager of the annual medical mission to Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominica specializing in free surgery and medical care to their underserved community.
Sophia Cabrera, Patient Care Coordinator
Maria Diz LMHC, Mental Health Specialist
Maria M. Diz, has a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She also holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of North Alabama. Maria has years of experience in the areas of neuroscience and human anatomy and physiology. Maria has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals on issues ranging from hormone effects on cognition to cognitive deterioration in normal adults and adults suffering from multiple types of dementias. During her first training internship, Maria specialized in child and adolescent psychology and has most recently trained in neurofeedback and emotional regulation.
Maria combines her experiences and interests in science with her career as a professional artist and expressive arts facilitator. She is passionate about bringing together a balance of mind, body and spirit to her work in mental health and wellness. Maria’s therapeutic philosophy expressed through her diverse approaches is to help the client find meaning and personal acceptance in their lives and the consequent hope and joy that can follow.
